days begin in a soft sunlit haze
drifting between caresses and kisses
alarms sound demanding attention
focus shifts to the work of morning meetings
while the dog begs for his daily routine
two hands aren’t enough to hold, or to juggle
the noise floats above and around
nothing penetrates the barrier
the only thing that warms me
is the thought of returning
to the swirl of an all consuming
grazing of our delicate skin
